Tanzania Jaysura was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in June 2026. Judge Jaysura earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 from Clark Atlanta University and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from Wayne State University Law School. From November 2024 to May 2026, she served an assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria, Virginia. From August 2004 to November 2024, she served as a commissioned officer and judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring honorably from active duty. Judge Jaysura is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.
Education: Judge Jaysura earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2004 from Clark Atlanta University and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from Wayne State University Law School.
