Official biography

Tamara S. Wallen was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in June 2026. Judge Wallen earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from Ohio State University, a Juris Doctor in 2005 from New England School of Law, and a Master of Laws in 2026 from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. From 2005 to 2025, she served on active duty with the U.S. Coast Guard as a judge advocate attaining the rank of captain prior to her retirement from military service. Judge Wallen served as a senior prosecutor, military trial judge, and chief circuit judge for the Western Judicial Circuit U.S. Coast Guard Trial Judiciary. Judge Wallen is a member of the Hawaii State Bar and Massachusetts Bar.

Education: Judge Wallen earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from Ohio State University, a Juris Doctor in 2005 from New England School of Law, and a Master of Laws in 2026 from the William S.
