Suzette A. Smikle was appointed as an Immigrati on Judge to begin hearin g cases in Octob er 2022. Judge Smikle earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor in 2002 from Harvard Law School. From 2019 to 2022, she served as an a ssistant U.S . attorney (AUSA) at the U.S. Attorney's Offi ce for the Southern District of Florida; and from 2010 to 2019, she served as an AUSA at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia. From February 2015 to September 2016, while on a temporary detail, Judge Smikle served as the R esident Legal Advisor for the United States Embassies in Bujumbura, Burundi

Education: Judge Smikle earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1997 from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor in 2002 from Harvard Law School.
