Official biography

Shannon R. Holderfield was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Holderfield earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2012 from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor in 2017 from the University of Tulsa College of Law. From September 2019 to May 2026, she served as a senior attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Department of Homeland Security, in El Paso, Texas. From May 2023 to January 2025, she served as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas. From September 2017 to August 2018, she served as a judicial law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and from September 2018 to May 2019, she worked as an associate with a private firm in Houston. In 2023, Judge Holderfield received the CBP Commissioner's Award for Integrity. Judge Holderfield is a member of the State Bar of Texas.

Education: Judge Holderfield earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2012 from the University of Arizona and a Juris Doctor in 2017 from the University of Tulsa College of Law.

Bar admission: Judge Holderfield is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
