Official biography

Paul J. Hornick was appointed as a temporary immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Hornick earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2000 from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Nova Southeastern University, Shapard Broad College of Law. From July 2022 to April 2026, he was an assistant district attorney general at the 3rd Judicial District Attorney General's Office in Rogersville, Tennessee. From September 2015 to June 2022, he was a senior deputy district attorney with the Madera County District Attorney's Office in Madera, California. From March 2014 to May 2025, he served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve in the following positions: special victim counsel regional coordinator at Mountain View, California (2014- 2015), command judge advocate at the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, California (2019- 2022), brigade judge advocate at Kansas City, Missouri (2022- 2025). He most recently served as a judge advocate in the U.S. Army Reserve with the 1st Legal Operations Detachment at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas. Judge Hornick is a member of the Tennessee Bar.

Education: Judge Hornick earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2000 from the State University of New York at Oswego and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Nova Southeastern University, Shapard Broad College of Law.

Bar admission: Judge Hornick is a member of the Tennessee Bar.
