Official biography

Kerri N. Lechtrecker was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Lechtrecker earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1989 from Hofstra University and a Juris Doctor in 1992 from New York Law School. From April 2007 to April 2026, she served as a court attorney referee in Suffolk County Family Court, New York. From July 2000 to April 2007, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable David Freundlich, supervising judge of the Suffolk County Family Court. From September 1992 to June 2000, she served as an assistant district attorney in Suffolk County, New York. She has also served as a part time village justice for the villages of Patchogue, New York, from April 2004 to April 2026, and Bellport, New York, from July 2009 to April 2026. Judge Lechtrecker is a member of the New York State Bar.

Education: Judge Lechtrecker earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1989 from Hofstra University and a Juris Doctor in 1992 from New York Law School.

Bar admission: Judge Lechtrecker is a member of the New York State Bar.
