Official biography

Justin D. Bennett was appointed as a temporary immigration judge to begin hearing cases in October 2025. Judge Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2007 from Gordon College and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from the Georgetown University Law Center. Upon graduation, he commissioned as an active- duty judge advocate in the U.S. Navy's Judge Advocate General's Corps. Judge Bennett holds the rank of lieutenant commander and has served in the following roles: military justice instructor, Naval Justice School, Newport, Rhode Island (2023- 2025), including a temporary detail as a special assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York, Branch Office Plattsburgh, New York; defense counsel, Defense Service Office (DSO) North, Detachment Groton, Connecticut (2020-2023); prosecutor, Region Legal Service Office (RLSO) Northwest, Bremerton, Washington (2017- 2020); defense counsel, DSO North, Detachment Naples, Italy (2016- 2017); and rotations as a command service attorney, legal assistance attorney, and prosecutor, RLSO Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia (2014- 2016). Judge Bennett is a member of the Missouri Bar.

Education: Judge Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2007 from Gordon College and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from the Georgetown University Law Center.

Bar admission: Judge Bennett is a member of the Missouri Bar.
