Official biography

Joshua Bennett was appointed as a temporary immigration judge to begin hearing cases in June 2026. Judge Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2003 from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor in 2012 from the University of Notre Dame Law School. Since 2012, he has served as a Navy judge advocate at Naval Station Great Lakes, on board USS Abraham Lincoln while homeported in Norfolk, Virginia, and in Washington, D.C. Prior to law school, Judge Bennett also served as a surface warfare officer on a destroyer based out of San Diego, California, and on a fleet headquarters staff in Norfolk, Virginia. Judge Bennett holds the rank of commander in the U.S. Navy and is a member of the District of Columbia Bar and Florida Bar. S

Education: Judge Bennett earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2003 from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor in 2012 from the University of Notre Dame Law School.
