Joshua Hawkes was appointed as a temporary immigration judge to begin hearing cases in October 2025. Judge Hawkes earned a Bachelor of Science in 2003 from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Engineering in 2004 from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from Florida State University College of Law. From 2020 to 2025, he served as a circuit judge in Florida. From 2014 to 2020, he was in private practice. Since 2003, he has served in the U.S. Navy, in active duty and reserve capacities, as a submarine officer and a judge advocate and holds the rank of commander. Judge Hawkes is a member of the Florida Bar.
