Official biography
John A. Poore was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in March 2026. Judge Poore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1999 from California State University, Chico, and a Juris Doctor in 2008 from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. From 2008 to 2024, he served as a senior deputy district attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney's Office in Ventura, California. From 2000 to 2004, he served on active duty as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. Judge Poore is a m em ber of the Tennessee Bar.
Education: Judge Poore earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1999 from California State University, Chico, and a Juris Doctor in 2008 from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
