Official biography

Jill K. Krishnan was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in March 2026. Judge Krishnan earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2000 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Vanderbilt University Law School. From March 2008 to March 2013, she served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Atlanta. From March 2006 to March 2008, she served as a staff attorney at the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta. From October 2004 to September 2005, she served as a judicial law clerk at the Los Angeles Immigration Court, entering on duty through the Attorney General's Honors Program. Judge Krishnan is a member of the New York State Bar.

Education: Judge Krishnan earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2000 from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Juris Doctor in 2004 from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Bar admission: Judge Krishnan is a member of the New York State Bar.
