Official biography
Jason Lawrence Stern was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in November 2023. Judge Stern earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2008 from the University of Michigan and a Juris Doctor in 2014 from Seton Hall University School of Law. From 2022 to 2023, he served as a deputy chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor (OPLA), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in Houston. From 2018 to 2022, he served as an assistant chief counsel, OPLA, ICE, DHS, in San Antonio (Pearsall). From 2015 to 2018, he served as a presidential management fellow and asylum officer in Asylum Headquarters, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, DHS in Washington, D.C. From 2014 to 2015, Judge Stern clerked for the Honorable Sohail Mohammed, Judge of
