Official biography

James T. Ward was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in November 2024. Judge Ward earned a Bachelor of Science in 1999 from Missouri Southern State University and a Juris Doctor in 2007 from the University of Kansas School of Law. From 2018 to 2024, he served as an assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Texas, Del Rio Division, serving as deputy city chief in 2019 and city chief in 2021. From 2015 to 2018, he served as a special assistant U.S. attorney at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Kansas. From 2009 to 2015, he was the Deputy County Attorney serving as a supervisor for the Franklin County, Kansas, Attorney's Office. From 2012 to 2015, he was also appointed by the Governor of the State of Kansas to serve as a commissioner for the Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission. Judge Ward is a member of the Kansas Bar.

Education: Judge Ward earned a Bachelor of Science in 1999 from Missouri Southern State University and a Juris Doctor in 2007 from the University of Kansas School of Law.

Bar admission: Judge Ward is a member of the Kansas Bar.
