Judge Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science in 1987 from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Juris Doctor in 1994 from Pepperdine University School of Law, and a Master of Laws in 1997 from the University of San Diego School of Law. From 2016 to 2019, he served as a trial attorney for the Office of International Affairs, Criminal Division, Department of Justice (DOJ). From 2009 to 2016, and previously from 2002 to 2004, he served as a supervisory attorney advisor and attorney advisor for the Board of Immigration Appeals,
