Official biography

Christopher W. Bragg was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Bragg earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1983 from North Carolina Wesleyan College, and a Juris Doctor in 1986 from the University of North Carolina School of Law. From 1994 to April 2026, he served the State of North Carolina as an emergency superior court judge (November 2019 to April 2026), a superior court judge (January 2011 to August 2019), and a district court judge (May 1994 to December 2010). From December 1990 to May 1994, he served as an assistant district attorney for the North Carolina 20th Prosecutorial District. From January 1987 to January 1991, he served as a judge advocate with the U.S. Marine Corps. Judge Bragg is a member of the North Carolina Bar and the Cherokee Supreme Court of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Education: Judge Bragg earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1983 from North Carolina Wesleyan College, and a Juris Doctor in 1986 from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Bar admission: Judge Bragg is a member of the North Carolina Bar and the Cherokee Supreme Court of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
