Amy Sigmon Walker was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1994 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor in 1998 from North Carolina Central School of Law. From December 2002 to April 2026, she served as a district court judge in North Carolina's 36th Judicial District, presiding over criminal, civil, family, juvenile, and traffic matters. She also served as a designated family court and recovery court judge and was certified to preside over juvenile abuse, neglect, dependency, and termination of parental rights cases. From November 2001 to December 2002, she was in private practice in Newton, North Carolina. From February 1999 to November 2001, she served as an assistant district attorney in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Judge Walker is a member of the North Carolina Bar.

Education: Judge Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 1994 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor in 1998 from North Carolina Central School of Law.

Bar admission: Judge Walker is a member of the North Carolina Bar.
