Thomas C. Weisert was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Weisert earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1991 from Fairfield University, a Master of Arts in 1998 from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor in 2000 from Seton Hall University School of Law. From January 2008 to May 2026, he served as counsel and chief of staff to the Honorable Jay Webber of the New Jersey General Assembly. From September 2002 to January 2008, he was a civil litigator with global law firms from offices in Newark and Morristown, New Jersey. From September 2001 to August 2002, he clerked for the Honorable Mary L. Cooper of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey. From September 2000 to August 2001, he clerked for the Honorable Jaynee LaVecchia of the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Judge Weisert is a member of the New Jersey State Bar, the Supreme Court of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. District Court of the District of New Jersey.
