John E. Moriarty was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Moriarty earned a Bachelor of Arts in 2011 from Ursinus College, a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, in 2016 from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, and a Master of Arts in 2023 from Hillsdale College's Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship. Since August 2021, he has pursued a Ph.D. in politics at Hillsdale College's Van Andel Graduate School of Statesmanship. From August 2018 to August 2021, he was a litigation associate at Duane Morris LLP in Philadelphia. From December 2017 to August 2018, he served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Stephanos Bibas of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. From September 2016 to December 2017, he served as an assistant district attorney in the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. Judge Moriarty is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar and has been admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third and Federal Circuits.
