Brent Carr was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Carr earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1975 from the University of Tampa and a Juris Doctor in 1983 from South Texas College of Law. From 1983 to January 2022, he was with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office in Fort Worth, Texas, first serving as an assistant district attorney through 1991, before assuming the position of presiding judge of Tarrant County Criminal Court Nine. During this time, he also served as the local administrative judge for all county courts for 20 years. His recent activities include serving as a jurist in residence for the Texas Judicial Commission on Mental Health as well as a governor's appointee to the Texas specialty court advisory council. Judge Carr is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and admitted to federal practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Texas and before the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Ste
