Benedict “Ben” S. Gullo was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Gullo earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1996 from Skidmore College, a Juris Doctor in 1999 from Hofstra University School of Law, a Master of Laws in Military Law in 2011 from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General School, and a Master of Science in Natural Resource Strategy in 2023 from the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy. From February 2003 to April 2026, he served as a judge advocate for the U.S. Army and then the U.S. Coast Guard, attaining the rank of captain in the U.S. Coast Guard prior to his retirement from military service. From December 2015 to May 2017, he temporarily left active duty to serve as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Ohio U.S. Attorney's Office in Cleveland. In 1999, Judge Gullo began his legal career as a senior assistant district attorney for the Kings County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, New York. Judge Gullo is a member of the New York State Bar.
