Steven S. Chase

Steven S. Chase was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Chase earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 1989 from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a Juris Doctor in 1992 from Creighton University School of Law. From 2019 to April 2026, he served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Harlingen Texas. From 2016 to 2019, he was the executive director with the Nebraska State Records Board. From 2007 to 2016, he served as the chief administrative law judge of the Nebraska Appeal Tribunal for the Nebraska Department of Labor. From 1993 to 2007, he worked as a solo practitioner, as well as holding positions as a public defender for the Winnebago and Omaha Tribes, a Winnebago tribal judge and assistant county attorney for Pender County, Nebraska. Judge Chase is a member of the Nebraska State Bar.

Education: Judge Chase earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 1989 from the University of Nebraska Omaha, and a Juris Doctor in 1992 from Creighton University School of Law.
