Michael J. Gross was appointed as an immigration judge to begin hearing cases in May 2026. Judge Gross earned a Bachelor Arts in History, with a minor in Biology, in 2010 from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor in 2013 from the University of Miami School of Law. From September 2019 to May 2026, he served as an assistant chief counsel with the Office of the Principal Legal Advisor, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Department of Homeland Security, in Miami and Pompano Beach, Florida. From August 2018 to September 2019, he served as in- house counsel at a motor vehicle insurance company based in Miami. From April 2014 to May 2018, he was an attorney in private practice in Florida and Texas, primarily focusing on personal injury cases, and also representing veterans and civilians in disability hearings before the Office of Hearings Operations, Social Security Administration. Judge Gross is a member of the Florida Bar and the State Bar of Texas.

Education: Judge Gross earned a Bachelor Arts in History, with a minor in Biology, in 2010 from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor in 2013 from the University of Miami School of Law.
